Appearance: Slightly hazy amber with fluffy white head, good retention
Aroma: Floral
Flavor & Aftertaste: Bready & spicy. Low bitterness.
Mouth-feel: Medium body. Clean, dry finish that is short in length
Overall: While not completely on the money for the historical/traditional style, at least they made it mostly with Vienna & Pilsner malt. Hops additions: Northern Brewer & Saaz. Many are darker from addition of Munich malt or specialty dark malts . I like the fact they did not use Caramel malt (SA Boston Lager) in this. It makes it more drinkable, IMO.
It doesn't have a super complex malt profile; none the less, it's well crafted. Pours a slightly hazy Amber color (unfiltered). Medium body, good head retention. Subtle spiciness from Saaz & Northern Brewer hops. No off flavors or off aromas. Nice clean lager profile. An easy drinking beer. There are so few traditional Vienna Lagers made these days, I'd love to see this on tap consistently.
Update: The brewery sometimes makes this in a 6.2% ABV version, which is way outside ABV range for VL. It doesn't hide the alcohol well. This would score much better if they went well under 5.5%.
