9/17/23 - NoFo brought this back and tweaked it quite a bit. It's off the mark for a Munich Dunkel. 6.6% ABV and roasty notes prominent. It's actually a tasty beer, but if expecting a Munich Dunkel, you'll be disappointed.
Appearance: Dark brown with ruby highlights, pours to a thin head with moderate retention.
Aroma: Malty - bready
Flavor: Bready with chocolate notes. Moderate sweetness. Restrained bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, relatively dry moderate length finish. Clean profile.
Overall: This was very solid and one of their better beers in IMO. Wish they would bring it back permanently. Drinks exactly like you expect a Munich Dunkel to drink. Light on the palate for a dark beer, clean lager profile, bready with chocolate notes, but no burnt or roasted flavors. Could use some tweaking to get better head retention, but that's only a visual drawback.
