Appearance:
Pours a deep espresso brown, nearly black, with faint ruby highlights at the edges when held to light. A light tan head rises quickly but fades to a thin ring. Legs are present but minimal; there's no significant lacing.
Smell:
Aromatically, this one holds back a bit. There’s a soft mix of chocolate and roasted malt, with banana and peanut butter hiding in the background. Nothing overpowering, but enough to tease what’s coming in the flavor.
Taste:
This is where Hunka Hunka really delivers. The chocolate base from the dark malts provides a smooth foundation, layered with creamy peanut butter and a mellow, natural-tasting banana note. It's sweet but not cloying, and the flavors are well integrated. The 9% ABV is expertly hidden—there’s no alcoholic burn, just rich flavor that makes it dangerously easy to sip.
Mouthfeel:
Here’s my only real critique—it drinks thinner than expected for an imperial milk stout. While it’s smooth and silky as the brewery describes, I personally would’ve loved a bit more body and weight to match the dessert-like flavor profile.
Overall:
Blaze Brewing absolutely nailed the flavor here. Hunka Hunka is fun, flavorful, and surprisingly drinkable for its strength. It’s the kind of beer you’ll want to share, not because it’s too much, but because it’s too good not to. I make a point to grab a resupply every time I’m in Blue Hill, and this one’s staying in the rotation.
Final Verdict:
A nostalgic, rock-and-roll dessert stout that hits all the right flavor notes. If it had a thicker mouthfeel, it would be near-perfect. Still, a must-try for stout lovers and a standout offering from Blaze Brewing.

Modest head which recedes completely and leaves no lace. The liquid is dark brown with no light passing.
The smell is mild with a touch of metallic. This prevents me from catching any traditional stout aromas.
The taste is a step up from the smell. This is a sweet beer with a candy-like, nearly tutti-fruity flavor. This beer is missing nearly all of the RIS. The exception is the presence of alcohol. Missing is the darker malt flavors of chocolate or coffee. The body leans to the thin while the carbonation is as expected. There's only the faintest flavor of peanut butter. I fail to pickup any banana or chocolate (except for the sugar?).
