a real unique golden ale here done with mango and lemon peel, different than just about anything i have had in the style, neat mexican influence, and a beer i could drink a whole lot of, despite these added flavors being relatively intense in here, a clever and thoughtful brew overall. honey colored and white headed from the bottle, pretty good clarity and brightness to it, and a sweet aroma from the natural mango and the pale barley malt, which isnt quite fermented all the way to dry in this. in the flavor there is a floral almost perfume intensity to the fruit, which is odd to me, but its delicious and strikingly different too, and this stands out easily in a style that is usually pretty samey and bland, light spiciness on the finish too. the mango is more forward than the lemon, but both are here, and this has a neat tropical summery vibe that drinks easy. light hibiscus, potpourri, even coconut notes to this, mild sweetness through the whole thing too, but good carbonation keeping it alive feeling and refreshing. really an tasty and unique beer here, well made and nicely treated with these fruits. i could drink this all afternoon. this place seems to be making some really inspired and interesting beers, i need to get my hands on more of them! this was great, a nice surprise for a golden ale!
edit: just had this on tap, stoked to see it in idaho now, not sure i realized it was actually made with coconut, which i now notice, makes good sense, you can definitely smell and taste it here. tons of flavor for a simple golden ale like this, really well done. a very unique example of the style, a great addition to the idaho market! super good with spicy food!
