On tap at Brahaus Schmitz
Appears a turbid dark, opaque brown nearing black with a fluffy, tan cap that slowly fades into a layer of foam that never leaves.
Smell is of anise, caramel, cocoa, and toasted grain.
Taste is of the aromas with a standout dark fruit and anise infused caramel java flavor enticing the tastebuds.
Mouthfeel is medium full with spice, dark fruit, and smooth brown sugar grazing the final sip

Ordered this on-tap at Brauhaus in Philadelphia
Great appearance, with fruity and caramel aromas. Tasted rich, dark, and caramel. Could have had slightly better foam retention. Also not quite as full as I'd expect, but I'm really splitting hairs to find some negatives here, as there was nothing to complain about. Overall, a great beer that paired well with German cuisine.
