A unique take on a classic West Coast DIPA, uses a large amount of rye and caramel malts to produce a refreshing flavor of earthy notes and spice. This red in color DIPA is also brewed with Warrior and Citra hops in the kettle, then dry hopped with even more Citra and Falconer's Flight hops to produce aromas bursting of grapefruit and citrus.

3rd review. My 1st of brewer.
If your first crafts were the likes of Mendicino's Red Tail, then this red DIPA direction would please you.
a) Over large tan head that slashes lace and lasts well over mahagony body. Good colors.
s) Caramel, a bit of wood, less fruit, malt, malt.
t) Follow smell on the woody, malty, sawmill, a bit of breadshop, and missing round fruit notes. Stays a bit too sweet and mono-dimensional, and a distinct fresh sawn wood flavor.
f) Creamy.
o) Love the style and appreciate this NJ-home state brew. Will recommend. Extra points for originality and style.

16 oz can. Pours red with tall, long lasting, fluffy off-white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of piney hops, caramel malt and red fruit. Body is medium and crisp. Herbal, piney hops dominate the palate with caramel malt and ripe fruit in the background. Finish is long and spicy. Nice brew.

Pint can poured in to a nonic pint glass. 32 days fresh.
Pours a true amber color with a brown highlight. A frothy cap is creamy linen colored, 2-plus F, durable, lots of sticky lacing.
Earthy and pine hops, caramel malt, warm dark bread.
Dry dark malt, slightly caramel, floral and spicy hops, a faint citrus note.
Up side of medium bodied. The rye and caramel, dark malt, and subtle hops push it toward a big English IPA or brown ale, even. Flavors carry good and long.
Brewed close to the Atlantic Ocean in the heart of the Jersey Shore, yet more of a west coast or English style ale. The 8.3% abv is nicely hidden with flavor and drink friendliness.

A red rye DIPA with caramel malts and Warrior and Citra hops.
Pours hazy red/amber with a half inch white head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma is floral hop forward. Taste is a nice balance of sweet caramel notes and hop bitterness and it favors the hoppy bitter flavor. Feel is good, smooth and coating with light carbonation. Overall a IPA that is at the low end of DIPA for big hops but a nice IPA just the same.
