The ruby gold hue is reminiscent of a well-blended tequila sunrise. Fairly sturdy two-finger white head. The notes are citrus, but restrained. The flavor, just a touch blood-orange sweet, followed by a dry finish, is very nice and very refreshing--feels lively on the palate. Not much complexity, but a sure-fire quencher.

Toms River Brewing "Celtic Sunrise"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED ON 08/26/22 10:51 CELTIC SUMMER" and sampled on 10/19/22
$4.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: So how is this pronounced? The proper way would be Kell-tic but here in the U.S. it's often pronounced as sell-tic. Sell-tic sunrise sounds a little better but unfortunately that's wrong. Anyway, it's poured a very hazy golden orange body beneath two fingers width of off-white foam. The body is teeming with life as plumes of tiny bubbles race towards the surface. There's both bready malt and thin orange juice with some citrus pith in the aroma. On to the taste, the blood orange really comes through. Unfortunately there's some of citrus pith in the flavor as well. But, ahh, maybe that's not a bad thing. It gives it great authenticity, and there's a little bitterness from it as well. Yeah, on second thought I think I kind of like it. It's sweetish but also a little acidic, and coupled with the somewhat higher level carbonation and a stiff bitterness it finishes dry and refreshing with some of the blood orange lingering. I can't tell if there are any hops in there as the juice is so dominant but it doesn't really matter. This is what I often refer to as a "one trick pony" because it's not complex, showing off just one thing. In this case however, and it usually is, the trick is good enough that it keeps you coming back again and again. It's medium-light in body and zesty and bristling on the tongue. For fans of orange juice this is a must try. It's obviously a great summer beer but it's more than just that. I personally don't see it as a great depths-of-winter beer but I'd drink it at any other time of the year. Nicely done.

On tap at the brewery in a nonic pint glass.
Dense orange color. Frothy 1f white cap, durable to a thick film. Light lacing.
Aromas are strong; orange, yeast, dank, dry malt, earthy spices. Woody in the hoody.
Orange infused yeast flavors.
Light and smooth. Orange rind and some bitterness.
Not quite full on Belgian, but very good.

This was the first beer that I ever had from Toms River, as I picked it up at Gary's in Wayne a few weeks back. Nice to see another brewery from Jersey available in this neck of the woods but this wasn't quite what I expected. It's not a drain pour or a letdown as it felt a bit artificial and not like the American Pale Ales that I've become accustomed to.
The pour to this was a bright copper like a good Irish beer with plenty of head topping it off but surprisingly, there wasn't much of any lacing left behind as the few bit of suds left on my pint glass quietly slid down after each sip. Lots of blood orange juice, syrup, and as the other reviewer stated on here, a vitamin tinge that only picked up as I gave this a taste. Basic malt, hints of grain, and a bit of coppery tang rounded out the taste as this was juicy, light, and went down easily. Enough carbonation kept this light as the aftertaste was full of citrus and lightly slick on the palate.
Booze? I suppose it's here but you'd have a have a few of these to really feel it. A tiny hint stayed on my breath but this felt like a session beer that was decently crafted, but just a bit too one-dimensional. Canned on 6/26 with "TAKE THE WHEEL" written underneath that, there wasn't any sediment in the liquid as this held up well over the last two months. A more distinctive malt profile and presence of a few other flavors would have made this great but as it was, this was a nice summer beer that I'd grab before heading down Route 37 to the beach!

Food thickness and retention to the head, off-white, minimal lacing. The liquid is a clean and transparent coppery orange, good brightness. The orange citrus bursts out of the glass, smells like those orange flavored vitamin c pills, maybe some mint, cracker in there, can’t register any distinct fruit, the orange cloaks all else. Light-bodied, could make an argument that it’s over-carbonated, foams and prickles at once and washes away some flavor. More overt malt and cracker to cereal. Has a sort of metallic taste which makes the aftertaste sour. Here too dominated by the orange citrus, albeit it’s not strong per se. A good try but relies too much on a single element.
