Appearance: Clear light amber color, white fluffy head with moderate retention
Aroma: Floral and spicy. Sweet.
Flavor & Aftertaste: Spicy hops, bready with some toastiness. Sweet with a moderate bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation, drying. Short clean finish with linger bitterness.
Overall: This beer fell a little short of my expectations. Bold Monk is an excellent brewery, it just seems like they were not real sure what they wanted this beer to be. Good looking beer but head retention is a little short. It's made with Pilsner, Vienna, Melanoidin and flaked maize; Saaz and Saphir hops. Billed as both a "Mexican style amber" and Vienna Lager, it leans more pilsner. Has a little too much bitterness. If they dropped the Saphir, upped the Vienna malt and maybe drop the flaked maize they would really have a special beer.

Different than most lagers I have had, yet not necessarily one I would say is one of their better offerings. Very visually appealing, light on scent, crisp mouthfeel. Overall, it’s solid enough…
