From the bottle, it pours a brownish amber with a nice head, soon reducing to a thin layer. Lacing as the level drops. Malt in the nose, malt in the mouth. Yum!

Pours clear deep amber body topped by mid-sized creamy beige head with excellent retention that sticks to the walls and never fades away.
Aroma is malty sweetness with melanoidin-toasty qualities, chocolate notes and faint alcohol in the background.
The malt is well attenuated and the flavor surprisingly bitter, more like Helles rather than Dunkler Bock. The assertive bitterness lingers into the finish and gets prolonged into the aftertaste with slightly astringent woodsy notes.
Body is medium with moderate carbonation. (500 ml, BB 05-14-2012, into tulip.)
In short: a decent Dunkler Bock with rich malt aroma and strongly hop-bitter flavor.
