People really like our APA(or American Pale Ale) but they’re always asking “What’s up with this American beer, eh? We’re in Canada don’t-cha-know.” That’s usually when we launch into historical development of brewing in the twentieth century and the technical classifications of beer according to certified style guidelines.
And then they make fun of us for being nerds.
And that brings back bad memories from junior high.
So forget about it. We are inventing a new style. Alberta Pale Ale. No more worrying about getting a wedgie in the taproom, and we get to keep the old abbreviation.
That’s a win in our books. So grab a seat on your chesterfield, take off your toque and please enjoy this pint of ALBERTA PALE ALE. Same great beer, just slightly less American.
*Also, slightly less alcohol tha the American Pale Ale. Which is funny, because everyone knows American beer is weak. Just like us in junior high.

16 ounce can - canned on May 1/21 so two weeks old - fresh!
Pours a clear golden colour with a finger plus of tight bubbly white head.
Aroma is malt forward - grainy, cereal malt - slightly floral with faint citrus, hint of melon.
Beer tasting beer - cereal malt, grainy, again a bit floral and a beautifully restrained hop bitterness balancing the malt sweetness nicely.
Solid medium mouthfeel - certainly a malt forward pale ale - deliciously drinkable - smooth. Would be a go to beer for me.
