Poured from a howler purchased from Collective here in Cowtown.
Appearance - Pours a chestnut brown with two fingers of bubbly off-white head.
Smell - earthy, leafy, and floral hops, nutty aromas, honey, caramel, bready and biscuity malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy, leafy, and floral hops upfront. The nutty characteristics come through next followed quickly into the powerful kick from the honey. The caramel, bready and biscuity malts alongside the earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky from the hops and honey.
Overall - A brew that is very unique by having a local honey producer provide honey for this brew. The local honey made the brew quite flavourful and complemented the other characteristics of the brew. By far, the best honey brown I've sampled to date. This knocks out those macro honey brown ales any day. It would be nice for other breweries to brew something like this as it is very rare that you get to sample a beer made with raw honey.
