This is again something that goes well with food - and still okay otherwise. Looks good, smells quite hop-forward (actually I loved its smell), it tastes also - okay. Why just okay? Because it is like having a Czech Pilsener (awesome hop forward) and a double bock (aggressive sweet malts) and you pour them together - ?
¿What? you might think and you would be right. It is a bit unusual to have that much densely sweet malts to a hop-forward pilsener. But hey, no problems whatsoever. Goes well with food, and without it as well.
Ottakringer must have used their Mixed thing or mixed their bock with their Vienna Lager.
Okay their bock has to come up next, stay tuned.

.5L emptied into a Pokal.
A: Pours a honey gold with a fluffy 1-finger white head which receeds to a thin ring. Lacing in the upper third of the glass.
S: Grassy hops and bready malt.
M: Medium bodied with good carbonation.
T: Sweet malts at the fore with spicy hops backing them up. Crisp, grassy finish. Nice astringent aftertaste, really hoppy, that lingers. Overall, a good balance of hops and malt.
D: Really a nice departure from the standard Ottakringer fare. Goes down fairly quickly, so I could enjoy a few of these in an evening.

A namesake of more famous Zlaty Bazant from Slovakia (both names mean 'golden pheasant') and the strongest of Ottakringer beers.
Pale golden color with a lively spark, medium level of carbonation, smooth white head, modest lace.
Smell malty-hoppy with a strong yeasy note.
Start malty, a bit sweetish, body big and rounded, strong hoppy accent turns sour towards finish. Aftertaste bittersour. Overall mouthfeel pleasant.
Probably the best from this brewery. Worth a try.
