Much better than their Hells. Sweet and delicious all the way through. Great malt bill. Easy drinking and properly finished. This is what Austrian beer should taste like.

Ottakringer Brauerei AG "Zwickl"
,5L glass for €5 on tap @ Museum Cafe, Wien
Notes: Cloudy deep gold with a brass cast beneath a frothy head of white. Head retention and lacing are very good. Aroma: Sweetish grainy malt backed by lightly grassy and spicy hops. Flavor: As the aroma suggests with a bit more of a floral note. Moderately bitter. Dry finish with a light touch of residual malt, some light earthiness, and faded grassy and floral hops. Medium-light in body with a crisp, fine-bubbled carbonation. Highly drinkable.

Had on tap at a restaurant in Vienna. Pours golden with hints of amber and very cloudy. Small head sticks around and leaves lacing. Pretty nice aroma but not a lot going on. A malty beer, for sure. Taste confirms it, typical Zwickel in that it is nice and malty but not too sweet. Easy to drink a few but far from remarkable.

Had this beer (several times) on tap at a festival in downtown Vienna with standard Austrian food (read: bratwurst and potatoes). A very cloudy and refreshing beer that goes well with Austrian food. Probably the best beer I had in Austria. If you are in Vienna - try this beer.

I had this beer on tap, along with a generous helping of Tafelspitz at a resturant in Vienna. The beer was murkey and cloudy, something of a dark straw color, topped with a huge rocky head. The beer's aroma was dominated by yeast. It was an earthy, almost sweet smell, but very enticing. Mild flavor, at once sweet and yeasty, but also with a flirtatious touch of sourness. There was a little grain husk as well. Pale malt comes forth in the mid-taste. Very drinkable and enjoyable. Light to medium in body. I have a bit of an internal debate about whether I'd rate the beer as high as I did without the accompanying food. The beer was a fantastic and refreshing counterbalance to the heavy Austrian food. I'm not sure that, on it's own, the beer would strike me as so good. Nevertheless, this was extraordinarily good when I had it.
