From the bottle, it pours a clear golden yellow color with a modest white head that slowly reduces and leaves a bit of lacing.
Grains predominate in the nose. The mouth gets grainy malts with a touch of hops. Feels smooth overall with medium body.

The brewery refers to this as their "normal" beer.

Brauerei Hölzlein "Vollbier"
on tap at the brewery on 16 September 2017

Notes: Clear deep gold body beneath a short head of white. Grainy malt with background of floral and grassy hops in the aroma. The flavor displays grainy malt that's lightly caramelish and a touch nutty with a hint of apple and some grassy hops. A moderate bitterness balances it. The mouthfeel is smooth with a moderate carbonation and medium body.

Clear straw color with white foam. Aroma has sourdough, light lemon and grains. Taste is quite weird, slightly sweet and malty but with the same sourdough note. Light body but it has a smooth feel. Interesting beer.

Half litre bottle, poured into oversized Tripel Karmeliet tulip.

A: Golden, clear, large head, moderate retention, lively looking.

S: Saaz hop, lots of hay.

T: Strong hints of rye and sour dough, gave way to a malty sweetness which gave it a good balance.

M: Light body, moderate carbonation.

O: A great example of a beer from a small Upper Franconian brewpub. Subtle and easy to throw down in large quantities with the monster sized Schnitzels they serve.
