Just shy of one fingers worth of lush dark khaki froth... Decent retention gives way to a lopsided lacing... Color is a silky aubergine... Enticing nose of chocolate, roasted malt and faint rye barrel aging... Palate is a bit of a one-eighty with the rye barrel edging up in intensity and the chocolate sweetness fading away a bit... Dense and on the fuller side of medium bodied... Dry and a touch chalky on the finish... Really good beer but it's missing a little something that could make it truly exceptional...
