I tried this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight whilst on a beer trip to Springfield, Illinois with my old Oswego Posse. It poured a clear nearly opaque dark amber with thin off white ring head that did not leave any lace. The scent had roast and grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet dark chocolate malt base with bold coffee presence and subtle anise highlights. The mouthfeel was lighter in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer; especially batting lead off to a day of drinking.
