Murray Street Brewing Company

My wife and I stopped here to try their beers. The brewery is located in a quiet, older neighborhood on the edge of town. It's in an old red barn-like structure. Parking is along the curb. Inside is smallish with a U-shaped bar with seating, and there are tables/chairs and upholstered furniture in the other spaces. A couple TVs were noted. Some seating is also available on the front porch and a small gravel patio. A tin ceiling and hardwood floor gives the place an old-timey feel. I liked the vibe. The place wasn't busy at mid-afternoon on a Saturday, so we chose seats at the bar. The bartender was attentive and willing to chat.

There are 14 taps but 5 were unused. There were 8 beers and one seltzer available. We chose a sampler flight of 5 to try to arrive at an overall evaluation and rating for this review. Each was brewed very well to style, and two others that the bartender gave us samples of were also very well done. One beer really stood out, and if you ever visit this brewery you have to order Cheesecake Juice Box Sour. It's so juicy that it masks any sourness, and I'm inclined to describe it as a slight tartness, the same that you can get from a citrus fruit. This beer is outstanding and I gave it a 4.75 rating! Our overall rating for all the beers was a 4.07 score.

No food is available here, however, warm popcorn is free. There is a selection of beers in cans to go. This brewery is a very worthy place to visit.

Tucked away inside a beautifully restored farmhouse not far off of Mattawan’s main drag, Murry Street Brewing has a real charming, inviting feel to it. Beers were dependable, although I would have loved to see them lean into more of the farmhouse-style range of options. This certainly felt like the sort of place where everyone knows your name by the end of your visit.
