May 2015: 330 ml bottle, BB date 05.05.2014, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg. ABV is 4.8%. Clear pale golden colour, moderate to low head. Fairly fresh aroma of floral and grassy hops, also some sweetish notes of malts. Light bodied. Fairly fresh hops in the flavour too. but the bitterness is not impressive. Some grainy notes. Not too bad for a low carb beer though.

Pours a thin head on a clear golden body.
The aroma is not too pleasant, grain and dirt.
The taste is mild bitterness, watery, a little metallic finish.
The texture is crisp.
Not good.

33cl brown glass bottle with branded pry-off pressure cap acquired at a supermarket in Bucharest, Romania, and served into a pilsner glass in me friend's gaff there. Reviewed live. Expectations are average. 4.80% ABV. Best before: 27.10.14. Reviewed as a pilsner for obvious reasons.
Served cold. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.
No bubble show forms as it's poured.
HEAD: One finger wide. Off-white colour. Fairly thin. Lacks any frothiness or creaminess whatsoever. Recedes fully within 2 minutes, leaving no lacing.
BODY: Clear translucent honey copper. Clean; no floating yeast particles or hoppy sediment are/is visible. Average vibrance.
Looks adequately carbonated. This is a pretty standard appearance for a pilsner; nothing stands out as unique or special. I find it generally appealing.
AROMA: Bland pilsner malts and accompanying sweetness. Generic barley. Graininess. Grassy hop character. Honey malts. The honey sweetness is a bit much for a pilsner, and I'd prefer more of a dry grassy aroma, but there aren't any off-notes present.
A pleasant aroma of average strength. It's not anything special, but it fits in with style conventions.
TASTE/TEXTURE: Clean pilsner malts, generic barley, some honey malt sweetness, and faint grassy hop character. It isn't the crisp clean pilsner I hoped for, and lacks much flavour.
No yeast character, alcohol, or off-notes are present. The flavours are quite shallow, but it doesn't come off muted or reticent per se - just boring and fairly insipid. Average duration and intensity of flavour.
OVERALL: It's definitely a supermarket pilsner, but it's better than many of the Romanian offerings I've tried lately. Can't say it can compete with the best Czech-brewed - or even other German-brewed - offerings in the style, but it's a nice little budget pils and I'll enjoy finishing the bottle, even if it's unremarkable overall. You could do worse.
