Brauerei Josef Schimpfle “ Lösch-Zwerg Würzig”
,33L brown glass bottle coded “mindestens haltbar bis: 28.02.22 12:35”. Sampled on 28.09.21
€,79 @ REWE, Hürth-Hermülheim, DE
Look: Clear straw gold body beneath a full head of bright white foam that holds well and leaves some nice lacing about the glass.
Smell: Bready malt with limited herbal hops.
Taste: Sweetish and bready malt with a light touch of apple and herbal, spicy, and floral hops. The hop flavors aren’t strong by U.S. standards but certainly by German ones. A firm bitterness anchors it and it finishes dry and hoppy with herbal and spicy notes lingering.
Feel: Light-medium to medium bodied with a fine-bubbled, seemingly natural moderate carbonation the leaves it gently zesty at first and then smooth once warmed in the mouth.
Overall: This is a charming and somewhat interesting helles with a bit more character than usual due to the aroma hops. Worth trying.

Moderate head which settles during the tasting to a single layer of bubbles which provides a couple of minor bubbles on the glass. The color is like straw. Clear.
A rather neutral nose with a very little pale malt aroma. Little else.
Pretty nice creaminess on the initial taste. This beer is much more full in body than I expected. The taste brings a decent hop kick near the swallow. The aftertaste, while brief, is well-balanced. The carbonation feels muted because of the body but is probably average.

Good but not great. Probably good on a hot day, not worth writing a whole review on. Better than PBR, worse than a more decent lager (i.e. Heineken). The best part probably is the weird pop-top lid that it has instead of a cap.

Pours a bright, golden color with a dense white head, leaving back a small ring of lacing.
Smells of floral, herbacious hops among toffee malts. Provides a faint but pleasant lemon crispness, settling onto the hop foundation.
Has an unusual low carbonation for a Pils, with a nice aqueous softness to it, leading to refreshing, hop accompanied finish.
Tastes of straw, hay, white bread malts and a toffee peak, gently entangled into herbal hops. Finishes with a bubbly, sweeter maltiness providing a faint hop balance.
Quite sweet, while managing to produce a decent hoppiness at the beginning. Easy drinking as for its light body, while not as refreshing as expected, due to the prominent toffee flavor.

Crystal clear golden color with short lived white head. Aroma has sweet malt, a bit of honey and some medicinal alcohol notes in the background. Taste follows with bready malts, sweetish at first but gets more bitter towards the finish with some spicy and earthy flavors. Medium body and carbonation with dry aftertaste.

Appearance: The beer pours an amazingly clear, straw body. The head is small but retention is good.
Smell: A hint of hops is overtaken by a cracker and sweet malt aroma. There is nothing complex about this beer but the unpleasant sour aroma I have noticed in other Euro Lagers is not as noticeable.
Taste: It mainly follows the nose but there is a surprising hop bite at the end that is pleasantly unexpected. It is nothing like say, an IPA but there are more hops present than I have experienced with other Euro Lagers.
Mouth feel: Light bodied but not too watery. Carbonation is extremely light.
Overall: To be perfectly honest, I have never been too fond of Euro Lagers; they just lack personality in my opinion. This brew did not change my mind but it did make me realize there are some drinkable brands within the genre.
