Had on draft at Warwick Farm Brewery.
Appearance is dark brown, nearly opaque. Small head that lingers.
Aroma is roasty....coffee, some hops, yeasty bread.
Taste follows the nose with a roasty flavor, some subtle hoppy bitterness on the back.
Mouthfeel is medium. Balanced. Biscuits and roastiness. Finishes just shy of dry.
Overall, this is a very tasty porter. Maybe just a hair overly roasty, but the balance fits the style. Will get this one again.

Pours black with a slight garnet hue. Two fingers of creamy, dark mocha head. Good retention eventually gives way to thick rings of lacing.

Roasty, chocolatey aroma with a touch of umami and hint of dark fruit behind.

The taste follows fairly closely: roasted malts, chocolate and umami, with a little black licorice, coffee grounds and shoe leather. Earthy, tea-like hop bitterness in the finish; lingers fairly strong in the aftertaste.

Full bodied, just shy of chewy, with prickly carbonation.

A very well crafted beer that’s manages to be quaffable for what it is. I usually appreciate balance, but might enjoy this more if one of the elements (the chocolate or the bitterness or the umami) were dialed up to eleven. It feels somewhat restrained.
