delicious beer, my favorite of the two beers i had in here, although i liked them both. this is a dry irish stout base, served on nitro, and spiked with local indaba coffee, who i have come to know as one of the better roasters in town here. this is really exceptional stuff, smooth and silky from the nitro, almost no acid or bitterness from the coffee, but its not a subtle flavor in here, and i think a very solid base stout underneath as well, not just a lot of good coffee in a lackluster beer, this would be good even without it. deep black in color, modest shine, thick frothy nitro head on it with nice retention and ring lacing. aroma and flavor of warming coffee with a strong chocolate backing to it, cocoa and slightly sweeter milk chocolate, but there is enough dark roasty barley in here that this is balanced and never sweet at all. pillowy in feel with some nice earthy flavors at the end, charcoal and even peat nuance, maybe a toffee note as well, and the familiar irish ale yeast doing its thing. just velvet to drink, mellow coffee linger after each sip, and a fully satisfying, flavorful, drinkable stout for any time of day or night. i was really impressed with this, and am already looking forward to a return visit to this awesome new brewery. these guys are well ahead of the game! dont miss this one if you like coffee stout!
