16oz can purchased at Community Pint, in Spokane, Washington, for $4.99. I categorized this as a Lambic, largely because I couldn't find a category on BA that works for it. But on UnTapped, it is called a sour IPA. I don't think that's the case. Here's the description on the side of lumberbeard's label: "Sour ale brewed with plums, cranberries, cinnamon, lactose and vanilla." Anyway, there's no date on the can but, presumably, this isn't very old, seeing as how it's a holiday ale brewed for this Christmas.
Poured into my Precious Things teku, this was an opaque color, somewhere between pink and red. Smallish, beige head formed after the pour, and while it dropped quickly, it never quite went away. Tart aroma of plums and cranberries. The sweeter adjuncts and the lactose are well into the background.
Taste starts out like the aroma, but almost immediately afterwards the vanilla and lactose come into play. Cinnamon kicks in at the very end, giving things that almost graham cracker like finish.
Medium bodied, with a coating, slightly milky mouthfeel.
I quite like this after my dinner, three days before Xmas. My first sour from Lumberbeard, and it's a good one.
