This can poured a ruddy, muddy red-brown with a sticky, tan head. A few specks of lace and a thin ring of foam remain.
Aroma is banana and candy sugar along with raisins and ale fruity esters. More sugary nose than aromatic malts and much of what I smell I think comes from a good choice of yeast.
The flavor is all candied fruit up front. Rich and sweet dark candy sugar blends well with raw grain nuttiness and a warm dark malt and hop spice bite at the back of the throat.
This is growing on me as it warms. Distinct banana and clove, some figs or date flavors, a bit over sweet and lacks some body and malt complexity.
This ticks most of the boxes for a Belgian style Quad but a bit thin overall.
