Inky black with bare bits of foam scudding on the surface. At first it left lots of nice lacing near the top, but it thinned to a light speckling on the glass.

Sweet malty scent.

Dark malt with more of a hop bite than I expected. Bit of resin in the finish. Nothing really distinctive, yet very fresh tasting. Nice.

Low carbonation for on-tap, very drinkable, mellow mouthfeel. Bet it's wonderful on cask!

On tap at the brewpub. Spring 2015. Forgot to rate it here.

It pours dark brown with reddish hues and a tan head.

I get sweet malts and coffee notes in the aroma.

Smooth medium body.

Same sweet and coffee notes in the taste as in the aroma with a nice bitter bite on the end. A likable Porter.

Poured on-tap at the brewery, and served in a tumbler pint. The beer pours black, with auburn highlights and a small bubbled, light brown, one inch head. Decent cling along the glass, and the head settles out to a ring of bubbles as you drink. The nose is roasty, smokey coffee, dark chocolate, and a hint of blackstrap molasses. Light, crisp body with heavy, dark roast coffee flavors abound, and highlights of dark cocoa nib. Very bitter aftertaste, with a good roast coffee flavor once again. Bitter and dry finish, and an overall good representation of the style. Not bad.

On tap at the source
Pours a solid dark brown with faint garnet highlights when held to light. Smells of roasted grains, lots of chocolate, slightly earthy hops, and a slight mineral aroma. Taste is roasty and chocolatey like a good porter should be. Slight earthy hops bite and a hint of chalk on the finish. Medium to thick body, creamy smooth mouthfeel, moderate level of carbonation. Nice porter, I could see a few of these in my future.

Apparently this one is back. Received a dark brown brew with a bubbly skim of a tan head. No lace.

Good roasted malt and dark roast coffee in the nose. Some boiled grain and mineral notes.

A decent porter here. Nice coffee and light bitter notes. Dark roasted malt is not too sweet, not too dry. As with many offerings from this brewer, there's a little boiled mash element -- boiled barley? that is offsetting. This one has no harsh elements though. The bitterness is balanced well with dark bread and some grain. Finish is coffee bitter, but nothing sour or off. Good, straightforward porter.

Medium bodied. Served at the right temp. Right carbonation too.

Liked this alot. Very drinkable and well made. Good balance and good on its own or with food. Hope they continue to offer this one.

Poured a deep brown hue with a two finger off white creamy head. There was good retention and good sticky lacing.

The smell featured elements of coffee, charcoal, toffee and caramel.

The taste was a nicely balanced bitter coffee and sweet toffee flavor. There was a smoky hint as well.

The mouthfeel was clean and dry.

Overall a nice quaffable porter. Nice complex flavors.

Had this on tap as well as took home a growler for later!
On pouring, this was jet black with a very small tan head that dissipated within a few minutes of being poured, there is decent lacing around the glass. The smell is that of chocolate with a small amount of malt. Taste is pretty bold with that if chocolate and hops with a finishing taste of roasted malt, mouthfeel is chewy, but not too heavy. i would recommend this beer to anyone who is a fan of porters or stouts

Had on tap at Martha's. Almost opaque black. Thin tan head let off some nice chocolaty notes. Tastewise, there some interesting things going on: some chalkiness, ending in some slightly roasted cocoa/chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is a a bit chewy. Not bad.

I enjoyed seeing this porter on cask during my recent visit to Martha's. It's a very attractive brew that's jet black with a sizeable tan head - especially considering that it's pulled from a cask. The aroma of burnt malt and coffee are quite inviting. Unfortunately, the flavors lacked the complexity that I tend to associate with porters. It was creamy roast coffee with hints of chocolate. Although it was quite good, it seemed to be a bit more of a stout than a porter. The beer was full-bodied and quite drinkable. It's unfortunate that it seems mis-categorized.

This is another rotating offering of a collection of cask ales that Greg is going to be having at Martha's. The is a beer that is typically on draught, put on this day it was on cask. The beer pours a jet black with a nice creamy looking head that last the duration and leaves a nice sexy lace behind. The smell of roasted malts hit the nose hard, along with a mild hop smell. The first sip was very nice. The head was like drinking a nice steamed milk that how thick it was, with a nice robust flavor. The beer finishe very nice also, with a lingering roasted marshmello flavor.

This Porter has a nice black color with a fine creamy head. Nose hints of choco and coffee... It's a bit thin to medium body-wise, and has medium smoothness on the tongue. Its' taste comes through with more chocolate and coffee notes, and finishes a bit dry. Not bad!
