On tap at the source.
In a snifter comes a dark brown elixir with an impish off white head that shows remarkable staying power. Rich sweet burnt caramel and brown sugars with hints of smoke and dark dried fruits. Medium to thick body with a light carbonation. Very nice after dinner sipper. The board at the bar had this at 9%

This is my first Beer from Martha's Exchange. (8/1/06)
Poured a nice clear Brownish Amber and very active head. Good retention on a hot day. Good lacing.
Minimal nose, sweet malt, slight coffee.
Scotch-like alcohol bite, sweet malt, slightly nutty, bitter hop bite at the end.
Thick, yet active. Medium body.
Pretty dang drinkable even on a super hot day.

This was a nice enough beer and made sure that and my first experience at Martha's will not be my last. This scotch ale was delivered with minimal head that disappeared as the beer warmed, all of this over a deep dark brown with a hint of red that was served in a nice stemmed glass. I was rewarded with a nice aroma of sweet malt after sniffing this beer. The taste was pleasant, with sweet malt with caramel notes that mingle with just a hint of alcohol and a touch of toasted grain. The mouthfeel is where this beer fell short. Mine had essentially no carbonation, and was closer in body to a watery wine than most beers. Perhaps i was at the end of the keg. Overall this beer had very nice flavor, but the body and carbonation did nothing to enhance the beer. Basically my taste buds were happy, but the rest of my mouth was bored. I guess i'll just have to try it again to see if this experience was the norm or a freak incident.

Dark brown color with hints of ruby....nice... Small creamy head.... Mild nose with a touch of malt and a whiff o' alcohol. Thin to medium body, and medium smoothness. Nice mild sweetness on the tongue, with hints of caramel and butterscotch when it gets warmer. Not a bad bier. Could have more body and sweetness though....
