Had a pint of this to kick-off happy hour last eve with Alewife...
Served in a shaker "pint" (perhaps closer to 14oz than a pint, imo), it had a medium golden hue, perhaps more akin to a darker shade of straw. Carbonation was plentiful and aggressive in the bier, heading up towards a thin, creamy, white head. Lacing was top-shelf. Aromas of rye hit the nostrils right off; easily discernible. Body was about a medium, and the feel on the tongue was only a bit prickly, perhaps more of a foamy, bubbly feel on the tongue.
Flavor? Again, a distinct, sharp, spicy rye character is present. Has a touch of breadyness, too. In addition, I pick up what seems to be banana traits, as in a Bavarian Hefeweizen. Is that why Greg calls this a "bier" and not "beer"? I'll have to quiz him on this. Finish is a touch bitter, though still pleasant. Pretty good offering, though I'd probably only have 1 or 2 at a time before moving on to something else.
Zum Wohl!!

Poured a medium straw hue with one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured an estery yeast and a good rye spice.
The taste featured a light spiciness and a grainy malt. Some saison yeastiness as well. Very estery.
The mouthfeel was of average fullness and crisp.
Overall a unique and pleasantly drinkable rye ale.
