A Weizenbock for the ages. Hefty malt balances the esters and tartness of wheat and the specialty yeast. A full flavored brew with great complexity. - Greg

Another one-off from Greg, brewed for a long time Marthas regular (actually named Norm) who just recently turned 50.
Served vom Faß in a 12oz tulip glass. Pours an attractive, clear, deep copper hue. Head is beige, creamy and thin, slowly ebbing to a fine covering, leaving a lovely stick behind. Aroma is superb, replete with an abundance of banana and clove notes. Whoa! Body of this "Norm" is medium, and the feel on the tongue is surprisingly clean and even. No prickliness and/or bubbliness as is present in most weizens.
A taste indicates some light sweetness, along with a crisp wheatiness. There are more major banana and clove characteristics here, really hitting the spot, plus a bit of some phenolic action going on. Though a touch lighter in color than most Weizenbocks, and without any of the chocolate aspects of, say, Aventinus, this one is quite refreshing. More of an amped-up hefeweizen, the 7.8% ABV will sneak up on you quickly. Alewife and I both left Marthas looking to return for more of "Norm".
Prosit!
