A very deep auburn brown color, looks livley with a decent but small tan colored head, not much retention but a decent amount of foam is left over.
The aroma is very inviting with dank, sweet malts, sweet oak with marshmellows and a subtle but nice dry-herbal edge. The yeast is not upfront in the aroma, it's all about the malt.
A very nice version of a Dubble, I'm aways weary of American versions of this style at a brew pub (Unless it's Cambridge Brewing co that is!!) but I must admit, this is a good one. The malt flavor is very complex with a woody, oak-sweet malt with a gentle creamy current that is very rightous. The balance of subtle herbs, dry and earthy makes for a delightful finish and balance overall. The yeast is not very complex and does not stand out, which is one of the most common reasona most American versions do not stand out for me. Eventhough the yeast lacks some kick, it's still good overall.

8% a.b.v. enjoyed on tap at the brewpub with Greg, brewmaster. Light Brown with spidery white lace. Belgian Y-yeast. Appropriate carbonation, better as it warmed. Finishes dry.Complex spice including allspice, cinammon, and cardamon, complex taste. For suppertime meal enjoyment.
