On tap at the source.
Pours a solid black with a smallish tan head that persists forever. Aromas of light dark fruits, spicy Belgian yeasty esters and a hint of caramel. The hops really don't come out in the aroma as advertised. The flavor is sweet fruity caramel malts with a heavy handed does of Belgian yeasty flavors. There is a spicy earthy hop flavor, but for my palette I have trouble enjoying them over the ever present yeasty phenols. Medium body and carbonation level with a sweet slick mouthfeel. Decent brew, but not exactly what I was expecting.

Received a goblet of chestnut colored brew (based upon the light in the establishment). Thin, off-white head, but some lace.
Toasted malt in the nose, some yeast and spice, some leafy hop notes.
A surprise here. This is a bitter beer. Not chemical bitterness, but like bitter herbs/greens, or even over-baked brown breadcrust. The yeast and spicy notes come thru, but not in your typical Belgian IPA funk style. Brown toast, a little booze, this one works. An IPA with some twists. Bitter finish. Not alot of fruitt here.Unique.
Medium body, some carbonation.
I dug this. The a crazy combo, with good complexity-- works for me.
