On tap at the source
Pours a dark golden color with a stingy off white head that displays minimal retention and lace. Smells of smoked malts, slightly woody with hints of toffee and spicy earthy hops. Taste is malty with sweetness countered by lots of smoke. Caramel sweetness and earthy hops cut through the fog quite nicely. Medium body and level of carbonation with a sweet slick mouthfeel. I order a smoked bock in late December and it throws me little when the glass gets to my table with a dark golden brew is inside. This is a decent beer, but I feel the beer doesn't quite have the body or sweetness I was expecting for a bock beer, and probably not enough malt backbone to stand up to the smoked malt. Drinkable as is, but could be so much better.
