Pale From The Crypt is a big, bold, unapologetic West Coast Pale Ale. It boasts a robust aroma of peaches, tangerines, and passion fruit. A backbone of two-row barley, caramel malt, and torrified wheat act to balance the beer for a frighteningly satisfying experience.

Even though I have over 1000 beers in my wants section, its not every day that I score said beer and get to review it. This is one of those days. You know, I thought this would be a Paperback brewery product given the label art, but no.
Pours a golden/beige like color. 1/3" white head into a 1959 Marquette jersey pint glass. Invasion Scott Hall standing guard. Not quite clarity, but its almost there. Hops say Citra and Mosaic, but I'm not feeling Mosaic here. Just a light citrus and wheat impression.
The taste somehow seems to lead with as much in the way of a malt bill as it does hops, maybe more. Ok (weird lil girl gif face). The caramel and wheat maltings seem heavy in proportion to the hopping. I just wasn't finding the hop flavors in this one. Part of what made me think Paperback was the artwork and the fact that the beer wasn't very good. When the body of the pale ale is heavy and the hops ain't hittin' beyond bitterness, I can't stand for it. No off flavors though. Just a malty boi.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is full of grapefruit. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, some malts, highly refreshing. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Fine golden yellow body, sharp and clear; fine carbonation; thick and billowy white head, sculpted and rocky in appearance. Dank, spicy hop aroma; a bit floral. Nice clean, balanced taste; subtle malt sweetness with a tasty herbal hop bitterness; mild esters. Crisp body; medium in character; starts with a light juiciness and finishes with a subtle dryness.
This is a lovely little pale ale, classy and refined with its depth and complexity. The ABV is well-hidden; the beer could be easily mistaken for a session ale.
Poured at 56 °F; no canning seen on the can.

A: The beer is relatively clear yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly settled down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass and some lacing down the sides.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with notes of passion fruit.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of passion fruit are stronger and more in line with those of the citrusy hops. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has the type of hop aromas and flavors you would normally expect from an IPA with the drinkability of an APA.
Serving type: can
