Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger light khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and mild vanilla; coffee forward. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, coffee, cocoa and a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A quite coffee forward porter, with great, authentic coffee flavor. The base porter leans to a dry stout profile with a pleasantly charred malt that melds with the coffee notes. They obviously were generous with the coffee in the one (and that's uncommon), but the malt base could have been a bit deeper to support the intense coffee flavors. Basically a nice porter and the coffee is well done, but could use a bit more balance.

Dark brown ale with a tiny tan colored head.
Smells malty and strongly of coffee. Some caramel, chocolate and a wisp of smoke.
Starts out dry and a bit bitter. Taste of noble hop somehow can be tasted besides the amount of coffee and patent malt. Bit of a bittersweet flavor, this tastes a bit burnt. Hits all the check-marks for a Porter.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall this is a solid porter but not much more.
