Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country...
L- Superfically black in the glass, BUT also jet black when held in front of a halogen bulb; unusual as most 'black beers' show glints of deep ruby red right in front of a halogen light. Poured with a 1mm deep tan cap.
S- Dark cocoa ice-cream?
T- Milky dark cocoa, with a 'toasty hot chocolate' aspect. Mercifully for the style it isn't sweet.
F- ... and also given the style you might expect it to be sweet and 'thick feeling' on the palate. It's neither, but it ends up feeling a bit thin and under-powered.
O- A contemporary twist on stout. The perfumey edge isn't for me and it feels under-powered. Not one I'd choose to drink again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Ingredients include: oats, rye, vanilla.
440ml can £4.10 BB: 11/02/2022 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
