Cierzo Brewing “Citra A Ciegas”
€6/half pint on tap @ CLBM Bar, Madrid, ES
Look: Hazy golden body beneath a short head of white. Better than average head retention and lacing.
Smell: Citrus with orange and lemon, and an edge of resin over a basic, sweetish malt base.
Taste: As in the aroma, citrusy hops combine well with a basic, sweetish and grainy malt base. In addition to the orange and lemon there’s a hint of grapefruit. The alcohol has a clear presence but is otherwise well cloaked for a beer of 10%. Firmly bitter and dry in the finish with some citrus and mild resin lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied, gently crisp, and then smooth.
Overall: Quite a pleasant tripel IPA that blindly shows off the character of the Citra hops.
