This award-winning wee heavy is rich and dominated by sweet, candied malt flavors and aromas. The complex caramel flavors come from a variety of specialty malts and an extended boil time. This style has become one of our favorites to drink after a long day.

Poured a twelve ounce can, the body is a dark brown with a slightly mocha colored head. Good lacing.
Aroma is sweet malty goodness. Caramelicious. Taste follows nose as expected by style with a malty caramel flavor. A slight bitterness at finish. No sign of the ABV.
Mouthfeel is good, soft and substantial, with supportive carbonation.
A malty treat and a fine wee heavy for fans of the style.

12oz can, adhesive label. Date stamp on label is 'CANNED ON: 04/10/25'.
Ruby brown colored body. One thick finger of tan colored head, and this results in a cap and higher reaching ring. Leaves behind a ragged lacing wall on the non-drinking side of the glass.
Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, toffee, and a whiff of stone fruit.
Taste is sweet roasted malts. Flavors of caramel, toffee, slight smoke, coffee, a bit of chocolate, raisin and date. The very end gets way more bitter - woody and leather. This end bitter note lingers in the aftertaste but mellows with a re-introduction of sweet caramel and stone fruit.
More than medium mouthfeel. Coats the mouth but get much drier at the finish. Excellent carbonation.
Very good blend of sweet and bitter, with a depth of flavors. Higher ABV% is warming but does not burn.

gabf gold medal winner as a scotch ale this year, and i think reasonably so, a really sturdy and delicious take on the style, simplistic to some extent, but in a way thats kind of impressive, i have not had nearly enough beer from these guys, so this was a treat. darker amber to chestnut colored with a frothed up half inch of sudsy tan head, good carbonation for what it is. aroma is concentrated and sort of adjacent to english barleywine or something to me, it has that intensity to it, some old world appeal both in malt and in yeast, clean though too, subtle leather, brown sugar and molasses, and even wood, hearty in a cool way, tobacco leaf, short of cocoa and roast or anything, but nice nutty kind of depth to this, and just a little show of its strength in the nose, fairly tight and cohesive. the flavor is also good, earthen and autumnal, full feeling but not crazy strong for its listed abv, which is a bit more than standard. it has nutty and baked depth, is decidedly european, particularly on the malt side, and isnt as sweet either in the middle or at the end as some of these are, leathery and ancient in a good way, subtle dried red apple and raisin fruitiness, the grain itself brings so much flavor, and it doesnt linger too long, late tobacco and black fig, faint smoke and earth and bark, bran, cozy without being boozy, well carbonated too on the palate, sneaky drinkable. real nice fall and winter beer here, congrats to them on their gold medal, well earned. very professionally executed.

Wow a full two inches of foam atop my Wee Heavy surprised since they are usually less carbonated beer itself is a very nice deep amber red with very slight hues at the base of the glass. Smell is nice smoked peat notes, brown malts a touch of caramel and coffee smells excellent no ethanol or heavy smells of hops smells like a winner. Ehh a bit too much hops for my taste making a sort of bitter west coast IPA experience that distracts from the sweet malts and smoke. Might need a barrel to round out these rough tastes. Mouthfeel is decent enough the carbonation makes for a medium and chewy experience one would expect for the style but to me the bitterness really needs to tone down a bit to session more than one. Personally I would recommend founders Dirty bastard over this or even Dark horse Scottie Karate. Only pick this up if your a true hop head but for me I wanted a sweet malty beer to go with my hearty meaty tacos

Canned on: ????
A - Brown burgundy pour with nice clarity and a thick layer of creamy caramel colored foam floating on top.
S - Sweet toasted caramel malt with a touch of fruit.
T - Light malt base slapped with fruit, namely blueberry and strawberry.
M - Big and viscous.
O - Very atypical for a Wee Heavy. Good? Bad? Check it out and you be the judge.

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This solid wee heavy
pours a deep dark brown with a nice head of khaki foam that subsides to a thick
ring, thin dusty layer, and shows some nice light lacing. Nose of rich caramel, dark
berries, and nicely toasted malts. Flavors exceed the nose with toasted malts,
dark berry notes of strawberry, blueberry, subtle herbal hops, brown sugars, caramel,
light toffee, and faint coffee hints. Nice mouth feel; medium body, light soft carbonation,
and a nicely balanced sweet finish that is subtly dry.
Overall----a truly exceptional wee heavy!
Cheers
