Our take on a classic Northwest Pale Ale, featuring all MI-grown hops. Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook bring notes of citrus, resinous pine, grapefruit, and pineapple that is complemented by a slightly sweet, malty base.

First few sips in, and this indeed reminds me of a WC APA, not unlike SNPA, and featuring a level of hops (especially aromatics) that once upon a time would have had people screaming that this was an IPA.
Eventually, however, the malt base grows a bit cumbersome. Instead of a nice sweet backbone with a touch of caramel, it's very grainy, and doesn't go with the hops all that well. Not to say that the beer isn't enjoyable; it's good, and goes down fairly easy. It his, however, disappointing, as I was hoping for more: more citric juiciness, more pine, and a touch more sweetness (and less graininess) from the malt base. At only 5.2%, perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised.
