Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy, medium golden amber with a fine, three finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale and light biscuit malt, citrus and dank hops, orange, grapefruit, a touch of pine and a little earthy dankness. Flavor is pale malt, citrus and lightly piney hops, lemon, thin orange juice, berries, pine needles and vague fruit esters. Finishes with light bitterness and distinct dry hop herbal notes. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I guess the recipe of this collaboration was fairly open, so I didn't know this was going to be a hazy, NE style IPA, but it fits most closely to that style. Classic NE hazy look in the glass with a great head. Flavor starts our fairly bold, if a bit muddled, leaning mostly to citrus rind flavors with a little pine around the edges, which becomes more clear in the finish. Flavor drops off in the finish, except from hop dust notes and some citrus rind. Bitterness is low, but just enough to keep me interested. This hazy did not start tasting like left over fruit juice to me, like most of this style, so I was quite happy to finish the can. A satisfactory hazy IPA that I'll leave to others who like the style to fully evaluate. I'm in a dilemma now; I'd like to support the effort for the brewers guild, but not sure I want to take blind chances on hopefully getting a regular IPA or a hazy, which I'm not that fond of.
