Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and lightly piney hops, lemon, orange, a touch of pine and dankness. Flavor is lightly caramel and pale malt, citrus and light fruit hops, grapefruit, green melon, mild mixed tropical fruit, some herbal dankness and a touch of pine. Solid bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Interesting that there was a discussion of "West Coast" style IPAs on BA today and how the style moniker is morphing all over the map. This is a moderate example, with classic West Coast citrus and pine, but the dominant fruit flavors are lighter tropical fruit and melon. Fortunately, true to form, this IPA has a solid sustained bitterness that lasts into the finish. I'm good with the envelope pushing with this style of IPA as long as I get solid bitterness and some citrus and pine and this one delivers. Strata is not what I think of for this style, but it adds a refreshing fruitiness. Keep the non-hazies coming.
