Apparently the first year for what hopefully will be a regular winter seasonal at Long Valley. Pours dark as night with a creamy tan head thanks to the nitro-tap. Aroma a bit faint, but roasted notes do come through. The taste is quite smooth and sweet, caramel and raw sugar, with nice bittersweet chocolate and roasted flavors without any lingering harsh bitterness that sometimes comes along with dark roasted malts. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, but not quite as creamy in taste as the few other examples of this style I have tried (notably Mackeson). Overall, very drinkable and enjoyable.
