It's back. They're just calling it 'Oatmeal Stout' now.

Poured into a shaker pint. Has a one-finger head, cream colored. The beer itself is cola brown with ruby highlights. Light carbonation is visible. The nose is a very strong roasted malt with black coffee. Notably no hops present.

Tastes just a little sweet, followed by a strong bitter black coffee. Finishes with dark chocolate. Slightly chewy, very drinkable with little alcohol detected.

Lacing went all the way down the glass. Nice, and sufficiently different from their porter.

Long Valley Oatmeal Stout - 4.5% abv - Winter 2010 batch (No longer Joe's Oatmeal Stout). Had on nitro-tap at brewery in shaker. Poured with unusually large oat head, just off-white. Dark brown with lots of ruby highlights. Nose of oats and roasted malt. Light to medium bodied, relatively flat with smooth texture. Mellow roasted flavor, little to no hop presence. Super easy to drink.

Poured into a pint glass. The stoudt is black with little to no light passing through, much as you would expect. Rich creamy head that was about a half an inch, and dimished to a quarter inch or so. Lingered a bit. Not much aroma. Some toasted malt. Wonderful toasted malts in the first taste. I get slight chocolate and leather flavors. Slight bitterness on the back palate. Very silky mouth feel. Low carbonation makes this a very easy drinking beer.

Joe's Oatmeal Stout

Appearance- Black with a thick creamy tan head. Heavy lacing throughout.
Smell- Strong grainy aroma- Oats, barley, bread, light roasted coffee bean.
Taste- Big grainy bread blended with a creamy light roasted coffee flavor.
Mouthfeel- Very creamy and smooth. Big flavor coats the tongue.

Overall- A nice beer to finish off my evening with. The Oatmeal Stout and the Porter are worth driving here!!
