Excellent 1000 batch offering from Long Valley. This beer is a Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout. Served in a goblet on tap at the brewpub. Jet black in colour with a hint of brown head. Smell is divine, roasted malt, dark fruit, and hints of bourbon. Taste is complex and layered. The bourbon aging is evident, but not overpowering allowing the fruit and roasted flavors to come through. A wonderful harmony of taste, and a fine example of the style. Smooth creamy mouthfeel with a robust texture. Silky smooth and coats the palate. At 9%ish the drinkability is limited, but an absolute joy of a sipper.
An awesome beer that is very limited in quantity. If you are in the area seek some out while you can. This may be making it into a limited run of bottles at some point.
