The town of Long Valley was originally called German Valley after the German immigrants that first settled in and cultivated it's fertile land. Evidence of these first settlers can still be seen in the skillful stone construction of many of the Valley's buildings and barns, including the Long Valley Pub and Brewery. The original walls and graves of a 16th century Lutheran church can still be found just across the bridge on Fairview Avenue. The German Valley Amber Ale derives its firebrick red color from a combination of crystal and specially roasted malts. This is an assertive beer with a notable bitterness and respectable strength. Willamette hops are used in generous quantities to make this pleasantly hop-flavored ale.

DATE: December 24, 2017... OCCASION: Christmas Eve all done celebrating... GLASSWARE: Victory Hop Devil nonick... pours from the growler a swiftly flat-lining off-white head and a light amber body akin to iced tea... little effervescence despite its next-day freshness... nut and caramel show on first examination, with light, fruity hops and toasted grains... sessionable, smooth, a bit oily, and slightly sweet... toffee, cashews, caramel, almonds, toasted and buttered bread--a workmanlike delivery, and at 6.5% ABV, solid but not a beer that I would seek out again--too middling in its profile without a demonstrative trait...

Pours a lightly red tinted and lightly hazed amber color, solid slightly off white head. Scent brings notes of presh grain, light caramel malt and attractive bouquet of grassy and earthy hops with a touch of citrus. Taste follows suit, light taste but fresh. Lighter side of medium, slightly thin. Good fresh flavor, crisp and clean.

A nearly clear amber beer with a decent cap of foam. Retention and lacing are fair. The nose isn't particularly vivid; just some generically sweet malt and a trace of floral hoppiness.
Like most of Long Valley's beers this one was a little thin and bland. There's caramel malt sweetness and very vague floral and citrus hop notes. Low bitterness, semi-dry finish. But it's dissapointingly uninteresting, and I thought this was one of their better beers.
Medium to a little thin in body with somewhat lowish carbonation. There's a slight smoothness to the mouthfeel that's nice enough.

Copper amber-ish color. Head looks frothy. Looks decently carbonated. Looks good. Nice lacing on the glass.
Not much of a smell. My girlfriend claims she smelled cherry.
Citrus, crisp and then a nice bitterness at the end, almost metallic but I like the taste...quite refreshing. Towards the end of the glass there was a somewhat caramel and toffee flavor as it warmed.
Mouth feel is average to good. Certainly not bad. Medium carbonation. Light in body. Easy going down.
I could have a few of these. Nice tasting, refreshing, easy to go down.
