500mL bottle poured at room temp into a snifter. Deep brown brew raises a small tan head that recedes to a vague halo. No lacing throughout the experience.
Aroma is dark cherry, chocolate, some barrel char.
Taste is, simply, a tart Stout. The use of George Dickel barrels seems wasted, as there is no real character, this being blended down by a fresh base Stout.
Feel is light and drinkable for a dessert stout, and the 13% ABV stays out of its own way. Medium carbonation.
Overall, this is supposed to be a “guava and cream cheese pastry stout with milk sugar, George Dickel Whisky aged stout blended with fresh brewed stout’.
The cherry-top photo of a Latin cream filled pastry is cool (and very Miami.,), but what we end up with is an average tasting imperial stout with a capful of red NyQuil mixed in.
