Gristworkz

Cool little brewpub a bit east of Bad Astronaut, just north of downtown. Straight bar perpendicular to the entrance on the right seats about 10 with some tables about the room and on the front patio. 10 house beers and 4 guest offerings. Friendly, personable bartender. Rice bowl was excellent.

ONE MORE UPDATE*****

As you can tell, Local Group changed ownership, their name, and branding to Gristworkz. I have been up and down with Local Group, thinking when they opened they had a few nice beers and the food was excellent. The quality of both didn't hold up after a while.

Anyway, the set up here is basically the same. An open area inside with a bar and tables spread out. A nice patio outside. Its all bar service, which is knowledgeable and efficient, especially the owners. They have about 11 or 12 taps, a few guest taps. Along with wine and cocktails now. Gristworkz beers range from an Amber, a couple of IPA's of coarse, a Baltic Porter. I really like both the Amber and Baltic Porter. The selection isn't lacking, but they are definitely keeping things more simple than some other places. Which is not a bad thing at all.

Food ranges from pizzas and a killer smash burger. They do specials for food and beer throughout the week. The weekend Barbacoa is ridiculously good. Traditional tongue, cheeks, fat/cartilage that most other places that claim to serve it don't have.

I'll once again make time to come back here. At Local Group's best, they were good, they just never kept that up. Gristworkz seems to have created its own unique character beyond that, and I'm liking it.
