A little old and a little new collide in Fiden's hazy IPA that combines Citra, Simcoe, and with the hop amplifier of Idaho 7.
Pouring with a goldenrod appearance, the creamy golden look soon floats an eggshell froth while swooning the nose with citrus, herb, tropical fruit, candied fruit and strong floral scents. A creamy richness greets the palate with a high cereal character along with hints of honey, shortcake and a whimsical drift of pez candies.
With its cereal sweetness easing on the middle palate, the hop boldness starts off with the citrus flavors of branch ripened orange and red grapefruit. A quick followup of tropical flavors reveal mango and pineapple. All wrapped in an envelope of cantaloup juiciness, the session soon trends balancing with a citrus peel, pine resins and stronger hemp-like herbs.
Medium bodied, dank and residing on the more bitter side of bitter-sweet, the radiant citrus adds a juiciness to accompany the bitterness that strikes the senses with a peppery, resinous and drying hop grip.

Appearance: Pours a rather cloudy golden, almost light amber, color with a one finger head; good persistence with quite a few shards
Smell: Sharp blood orange and kumquat aromatics
Taste: The citrus flavor here is quite pronounced with a very bitter blood orange and kumquat tone that builds in bitterness, after the swallow; some residual sweetness underneath to complement
Mouthfeel: Medium body; somewhat creamy with moderate carbonation
Overall: Quite different from your typical hazy; not particularly juicy and the bitterness is almost medicinal
Thanks, devoured_by_vermin, for the opportunity
