A delicious smoky dark lager that smells like a campfire and invites you eat something salty and fatty with it. Wonderfully crafted and balanced, this lager is inviting you to drink it by the gallon.

On tap at Fidens Brewing Company in Albany, NY.
This pours a very dark brown color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like caramel, dark breadiness, campfire, and herbal hops.
A smoked dark lager is just about the last thing that I’d expect Fidens to do. Maybe the next least likely thing I’d expect is that they’d do it well, but they have! It’s mildly to moderately smoky, not overwhelmingly so, with a pleasant caramelly and bready malt backbone. There’s a touch of herbal bitterness as well.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and really drinkable.
I really enjoy that Fidens did this, and did it well.
