DATE: February 7, 2019... OCCASION: watching Penn State try to finish a comeback against Ohio State... GLASSWARE: Victory Hop Devil nonick... I was disappointed at this one's price tag ($14 for a grunt before tip, for a flagship with a low ABV to boot), so it's got some catching up to of its own... pours a dark amber red body with an army of cascading bubbles building a thin, off-white head that smears... thick caramel malts, sharp sugary esters, tea, butter, toffee, and woody pulp all factor in the aroma... first sip is creamy, sweet, and light-bodied--it begs for a second sip, though it doesn't sit deeply.... at the throat, it slips away quickly... refreshing, but not balanced as a red might be.... the butterscotch, copper, vanilla, toffee, and beech wood (like a Budweiser?) combine to make a strange, light, somewhat inoffensive sipper that could work in a quaint locale like Krogh's... at home, in full view, it is a less than impressive sports-watching accompaniment.... definitely not worth its price... and I went there hoping for their IPA, only to find that (for the second time), it was kicked....downer..

9/13...brewery draft. Pours crimson red, very little foam. Faint nose, slight toast. Smooth caramel malt taste, breads too. Subtle hop blends the bitter. Well balanced. Simple and flavorful.

I had this on draught at the brew pub. It was reddish-brown in appearance, without much head or lacing due to the temperature at which it was served. The smell was subdued but there was some caramel over the malt base. You could taste the caramel but overall I thought it was rather bland.

A: Deep tawny color. Thin silky head. Some circumferential lacing.
S: Not a whole lot going on, some malt sweetness. Just a hint at hops. This beer has no specific smells, just generalizations.
T: Caramel sweetness, with some hop character showing in the back end with minimal bitterness.
M: Clean, crisp, thin.
D: Despite this not being an outstanding beer. I enjoyed drinking it. It was unobtrusive with just enough flavor that I didn't feel like I was downing swill. But at $5.00...

Krogh's- Alpine Glow Red Ale
Appearance- Amber red with a sticky white head.
Smell- Sugary mollasses malt and maple syrup.
Taste- Vanilla caramel, mollasses, and maple.
Mouthfeel- Big full flavor up front but it dies off and finishes watery.
Overall- A nice tasting beer. The flavor died off, but I remieded this by drinking faster! Tasty beer, give it a shot.

My first beer at this place, and I must admit it wasn't a good first impression. It was served to my in a frosted glass, so my first sip containted ice. Very, very thin malt for a beer I expected to rely more on the malt than the hops. Hops were surprisingly floral and not wanted. Decent carbonation if you can get past the damn coldness of the beer by clenching the glass for ten minutes. Very light in color for a red, more sunset orange than anything else. The beer felt OK in the mouth, but lacking real body. This ended up being my major complaint about all of their brews.

pours to a golden foamy amber. and it has a deliteful sweet smell to it.
wow, reds are much better on tap. it has that strange vinegar sort of flavor in the backround. the sweetness balances it out. it is nice and smooth. the sample i had was a little thin, but it was still enjoyable. lots of flavor. if you like a good red, this will suit you
