Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and a touch of caramel and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, latte coffee, milk chocolate and light vanilla. Chocolatey café au lait finish. Medium bodied with silky moderate creaminess, nice mouthfeel. I've been drinking big stouts for the last few weeks, which often presents a challenge when approaching those with moderate ABV. Not so with this one; it is full flavored and rich. Both the coffee and chocolate flavors are authentic and great tasting. This is another canned stout that has a surprisingly creamy body and mouth feel, almost like a draft pour. Very nicely brewed and flavorful.

Rich texture, pleasant aroma, big mouthfeel...but even with all that, there seems to be something lacking. My guess is that since aroma is such a big part of flavor, the strong texture over rules. I've had worse, but I've also had better.

Pours a dark, thick motor oil brown. Not even a finger of dark brown head, despite the semi aggressive pour.
Nose is roasty malt, coffee, dark chocolate, mid notes of cinnamon, and dark fruits. A lot going on in this small package. Not bursting out of the glass strong, but certainly complex.
Taste is all of the same just heightened. The roasty malt, coffee and chocolate creating a very dark and bitter atmosphere. But the notes of cinnamon and fruits brighten it up a little bit. Still the finish is on the dry, smoky, acrid side.
Mouthfeel is silky smooth. Fullbodied with mild carbonation. Very nice.
Overall this is a great breakfast stout, especially one for coffee lovers or those having a rather sweet breakfast like crumb cake. I'm finishing this with an almond horn from Rockland Bakery and it pairs quite nicely.
