For this IPA we took one of our favorite base recipes and made adjustments to our water profile and fermentation process before dry-hopping it with a combo of Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe. The end product is a little dyer than some of our previous IPAs, but we we're quite excited about how this beer is tasting out of the gate.

Pours out a pale and hazy yellow. A finger of foamy, soapy white head appears. Solid retention and nice lacing.

Nose is tropical and citrus notes. Some pineapple, lemon, grass, peppery. A very green IPA on the nose. Plant-like, vegetal.

Taste is similar. Grassy hop notes amidst that lemon or lime citrus quality. Minimal pineapple, tropical notes. Medium bitterness. Mild amounts of hop burn.

Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Light to medium bodied with mild carbonation. A little lacking.

Overall a solid IPA. This sits pretty much right in the middle of the road as far they go. Not overly juicy, not overly bitter. Very drinkable.

This was the first beer from Timber Ales that I've had as I traded for it with a friend a few weeks back. Of course, it's an IPA that one would expect from this neck of the woods but it was so smooth and tasty that it didn't last in my pint glass for very long, as it had plenty going for it!

The pour to this was nice as the murky, melon-hued beer was plenty slick without any sediment floating in it. Not a lot of head to this but what was present was plenty fluffy, but not thick, as the lacing left behind was spotty and concentrated near the top of my pint glass. Lime, pithy citrus, and a hint of dankness filled the nose as the taste was dank and juicy enough to back up the aroma. Rustic fruit patch, turbid hints of Simcoe and Mosaic, and a bit of hop burn in the back rounded out the taste as the malt was basic and enough to round this out.

Hints of herbal tea and juicy berry filled out the aftertaste as the booze was present, but not noticeable, and the carbonation was just light enough to keep this from feeling heavy on the palate. Packaged on 7/20, there were a few dark clumps of sediment that ended up settling at the bottom of the liquid although that wasn't a detraction. Not a bad first impression from Timber as I would love to give some of their higher-rated offerings a go!

PKGD ON 07/20/20 stamped on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Hazy Arnold Palmer hue with 2-finger off-white head with good retention and craggy stripes of lacing.

S: Intense fruit aromas of pineapple, lime, orange, and guava with a solid pale malt background graininess.

T: Flavor is very appealing with citrus orange and lime with pineapple and more strawberry, peach, and herbal notes in the finish. Pale maltiness is solid throughout. Bitterness is low-medium and yeast esters are highly fruity.

M: Smooth even medium body with low carbonation and no chalky mineral character.

O: Impressive beer which has a lot of fruity aroma and flavor and goes up against the high performers of the NEIPA style.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy yellow in color and has some whitish hues. It poured with a short dense white head that left some lacing on the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - limes seem to stand out in particular - along with notes of gooseberries.
T: The taste has lots of flavors of gooseberries along with underlying notes of limes and stone fruit. Little to if any bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA really showcases the flavors of Citra hops, particularly with all of the lime and gooseberry in the taste.
