Poured from a bottle (18Dec2022) into a small tasting glass - second of the two bottles I got at release

L: pours a quiet thick dark black brown, bare minimum dark brown head that fades quickly. Stains the glass a bit with each sip, nice legs

S: big, rich nose. Lots of dark fruit - raisins, prunes, figs. Spicy, dark baking chocolate, bit of vanilla, barrel heat. The amount of dark fruit surprised me, but those (more expected) chocolate dessert notes follow closely behind.

T: follows the nose well, more dark fruit character than I expect in a stout but lots of rich chocolate as well. Fudge brownie batter, chunks of baking chocolate. A bit of spice, pleasant barrel heat, some tobacco (?). As it warms get a more of those chocolate notes, serious fudge and high cacao straight chocolate. Alcohol is more present than in some higher abv brews I’ve had of late, but like it

F: really nice here, incredibly smooth and that wonderfully full and thick without being a chore to drink. Chewy in a great way. Definitely world class here

O: the dark fruit to open the nose had me on the fence, but the chocolate builds as it warms and the swallow is nice and rich. Feel is where this thing shines, amazing stuff

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like dark chocolate, tobacco, boozy caramel, coffee, vanilla, oak spice, and roasted malt. The bourbon barrel character almost reminds me of like a mulled cider mixed with bourbon - without the actual apple characteristics - just that warming spicy character.

This is absolutely delicious, with a spicy and warming oak character, lots of dark chocolate, some clean roasted malt, etc. There's also roasty coffee, some boozy bittersweet caramel, char, tobacco, and some vanilla notes from the barrel.

This is medium bodied, silky and velvety, but not the uber thickboy that a lot of stouts are these days. There's a little bit of boozy warmth here, but I wouldn't call it hot.

This is an absolutely excellent stout that doesn't need adjunts to be a shining star.
